First of all, I love everything about IT. Ever since I crashed my first 486 PC I knew that software and hardware will be my passion. I spent days and nights of my youth with the lovely sound of floppy drive clicking and 36k modems purring. I was thrilled seeing “Hello Zeljko” displayed on white 13” CRT as I learned my first programming steps.
I truly believed that IT will transform the world as we know it, and I enjoyed technology progress and transformation even when I was mocked for carrying “huge bricks” (Palm PC/PDA’s), and not “sleek and elegant” micro mobile phones of the time.
During faculty I started my first contract as I was eager to learn more about IT. I learned a lot about security (thanks to unsecure Windows Server 2000), SQL database management and availability (cloud based medical software with HA need). My first job was also a time when I earned my first IT Pro certification – MCSA (Microsoft Certified System Administrator).
My second job is my current one, and so far it gave me a plenty of space to grow as a person and professional. I started as senior system administrator, advanced into engineering position with main goal to align companies’ goals, needs and risks with technology.
I happily accept challenges of the various projects in/outside of the company. Diversity of projects really helped me get more mature in combining various solutions and technologies (HA, DR, SAN storage, web/IIS, security…) and gaining project leadership skills.
I got opportunity to further advance my Microsoft certifications, add Cisco and security skills to my ever-expanding portfolio.
Most recently we completed implementation and certification for ISO 27001 which I led. I’m exploring various cloud services and options for my workloads while also trying to automate and monitor various everyday IT processes with help of scripting.
Even when I leave office, I continue to explore IT at home. Red Hat, Docker, VMware vSphere, Azure are some of the technologies I enjoy learning and exploring… IT security is also one of the things that keeps me up at night.
I also try to share bits of my IT experiences via this blog.
Please forgive me if there are some mistakes in texts on this blog – I try to squeeze writing in my free time, and often have many other projects and responsibilities and I just don’t get to check every sentence three times before I publish it.
